In the world of professional kitchen kettles, innovation and functionality go hand in hand. The mechanical design and engineering work of Dieta kettles is Jarmo Hanhela’s area of expertise. Jarmo enhances the structure and mechanical components of kettles, both visible and concealed, to deliver exceptional user experiences. In this interview, Jarmo shares his insights about teamwork at Dietatec, his favorite achievements and much more.

Finding joy in day to day challenges

Jarmo's role at Dietatec primarily revolves around mechanical design, creating manufacturing drawings, and developing assembly instructions. Whether it's designing new products, updating existing ones, or receiving requests from customers and production, Jarmo is at the forefront of ideas and improvements.

Jarmo finds satisfaction in overcoming obstacles and finding optimal solutions to complex engineering problems.

“Solving problems and finding satisfactory solutions to challenges is the most rewarding part of my work."

Collaboration in a team

"Working as part of a team, we have frequently contributed to enhancing the user experience for our customers. We brainstorm and develop ideas collaboratively."

Jarmo’s involvement in development projects has been significant in improving the usability and intelligence of the kettles. Working alongside his colleagues, he actively contributes ideas and thoughts to create innovative solutions that resonate with the customers.

As an example of teamwork, Jarmo mentions Genier, a kitchen kettle almost completely built as a new version of the previous model series, and how the team revolutionalized its technology and assembling ability.

Together with Jarmo’s closest colleague R&D Manager Valtteri Klippi, they form a dynamic duo. "I focus more on practical implementation while Valtteri manages the project management side”, Jarmo describes his collaboration with Valtteri, highlighting their complementary roles.

Only perfect is good enough for Jarmo

As hard as it is for an down to earth engineer that hates bragging about himself, he admits he can take pride in his ability to collaborate effectively with others.

His team members know that he’s a walking information center regarding all the bits and parts that are involved with Dieta kettles and that his perfectionist nature has eye for development opportunities, no matter how big or small.

Journey to Dietatec – discovering the best opportunity

"After graduating, I found a suitable position at Dietatec, which immediately captured my interest."

Jarmo's seven-year experience at Dietatec began right after his graduation. He considers himself fortunate to have landed a role that aligned with his skills, making it an ideal career choice. Before Dietatec, Jarmo studied for a degree in mechanical engineering.

And when the working day is done, Jarmo enjoys a lifestyle that includes relaxing at home, cycling and spending time with friends.
