Part 3: Special Dieta Mixing Hook

We started the blog series on Dieta tools from my everyday form, and now it's time to move to something special. And when I say special, I really mean it. My Mixing Hook is a unique solution enabled by the famous 3-part design of the Dieta Mixer Tool.

I am one thing that makes the Dieta mixer kettle so much more versatile than other products.

I look really simple but do not let it mislead you. I am extremely powerful and capable of making Dieta kettles perform with foods other mixer kettles only dream of.
My special skill is mixing products that other mixer tools move forward around the kettle without ever mixing properly. By passing through the bottom, you can say I help products to “turn around” and thus mix.

I also work well in extreme conditions at both ends of the spectrum. On other hand, I am most useful with heavy products and products with long shredded structures (e.g., raw cabbage, dough, or meat mixes).

You can see me mixing coleslaw salad in a few minutes or working on a semi-liquid dough. On the other hand, I can also effectively mix products with sensitive ingredients like green or pasta salads.

First, there was a dough hook

Looking at me, you might guess where my design received the inspiration. Yes, I was first designed to improve mixing small amounts of dough in the mixer kettle - to improve the versatile scale of products prepared in the mixer kettle. That’s where my historical name, dough hook, came from. But that was only where the journey began...

Finnish food culture has some traditional recipes with shredded cabbage, which has in the past been an unpleasant ingredient in a professional kitchen with high production volumes, as mixing is so laborious. Looking solution for this, Chef Vesa once just pulled me from the shelf. It worked like a dream!

That was the start of my incredible journey. When we started to see Dieta kettles in more and more kitchens worldwide, we suddenly started to see more and more new products that I could prepare with mixer kettles.

I am one thing that makes the Dieta mixer kettle so much more versatile than other products.

How to use Mixing Hook:

Mixing hook can be used alone (without other attachments) or with a bottom scraper attachment.

When using the bottom scraper with a mixing hook (e.g., grounded meat), the bottom scraper ensures product mixing in the kettle bottom. Though, with long shreds (like shredded cabbage), the bottom scraper attachment can prevent the product from mixing correctly. Then it is better to use only the mixing hook.

Mixing typically requires some speed to work well. Rates recommended for mixing hook are from 60 to 100.

Sauerkraut

To make sauerkraut, or other cabbage-based products, use a combination of the standard mixing tool’s bottom scraper and mixing hook.

Sauerkraut on a plate

First, low-roast the bacon on the bottom of the kettle, and when the bacon is ready, remove the bottom scraper from the mixing tool.

Now you have only a mixing hook in the kettle, and then you can add raw cabbage and seasons. Mixing with speed 60...100, thoroughly mixing construction should take only a few minutes.
